Good Morning, Mr. President: January 21, 2009
This morning, Barack Obama woke up in the White House. I wonder if he rolled over and said to the woman beside him, "How are you feeling, Mrs. President?" Did he go to the gym, as usual, to start off on the right foot? Did he sit down and help his daughters butter their toast? Did he find the time to breath in the cold, January air? Or are these things of the past-- no longer in the present? Was President Obama, instead, immediately whisked away to the Oval Office to tackle jobs on his long list of "to-dos?" Was the man bombarded with reporters asking poignant questions at 8 am? Did President Obama wake up this morning and pray for his safety as he carried out his daily duties? I am afraid that the romantic moments of life will be few and far between for the young president. The sacrifice is one that he took knowingly, yet, it is one that I am not sure that I, myself, could pull off.
