Farm Boys Start Cheese Making Business

The von Trapp farm in Waitsfield, Vermont, produces milk, eggs, locally grown vegetables, maple syrup, homegrown flowers, and now they are making cheese. Thanks to the von Trapp Farmstead, a new small business started by brothers Sebastien and Daniel von Trapp, the farm is making cheeses to be sold at local markets, outside venues, and commercial sale. The brothers built their own cheese making factory adjacent to the half century old barn on their father's property and operations are now in full swing as the boys experiment with new recipes for making homemade cheese. Their newest deal: a round wheel of cheese with a smooth, creamy texture similar to bre that they call "Oma," after their beloved grandmother who lives down the road.
